Community Participation
Being part of the community looks different for everyone. Our Community Participation supports are built around what’s meaningful to you — whether that’s joining a group activity, volunteering, learning new skills, or simply getting out for a coffee and chat.
We take time to get to know what you want out of your day, your routines, and what helps you feel comfortable. There’s no one-size-fits-all plan — every participant’s supports are personalised to help you connect, build confidence, and do the things that matter to you.

What is Community Participation?
Community Participation is flexible, one-to-one or small-group support designed to help you get involved in everyday life — at your pace, in your way. It’s not just about “going out” — it’s about genuine connection, purpose and growth.
Supports can include community outings, volunteering opportunities, attending appointments, joining social groups, or working on independent living skills. We can also help you build confidence in public spaces, learn to navigate transport, or explore hobbies and interests safely with support nearby.
We keep things simple: you choose your goals, we build a plan around them, and our trained staff help make it happen.
What You Can Do
With BSS Community Participation, you can:
-
Explore your local area — markets, cafés, shops, or community centres
-
Learn travel skills like catching public transport confidently
-
Attend appointments, events, or local workshops
-
Volunteer, join hobby groups, or reconnect with social circles
-
Build independence through budgeting, meal planning, or daily tasks
-
Work toward NDIS goals around social participation, confidence, or communication
You can decide if supports are one-on-one or as part of a small group — whatever feels right for you.
Sessions can be regular or occasional, short or full-day — completely flexible to fit your week.
